Our journey begins at Living Tuk Tuk, at Rua do Corpo da Guarda, no. 18, in the historic heart of Porto. From here, we set off aboard a comfortable and modern tuk tuk to discover a city where heritage and contemporary creativity come together, transforming streets, façades and buildings into true canvases of urban art.

Our first stop takes us to the Guindais Stairs, where we will make a short stop to get out of the tuk tuk and explore on foot some of the most iconic urban art works along the route. These include “Dona Rosa”, by Mr. Dheo, a tribute to the women of Porto, and “The Guardian”, by Tomas Facio, which transforms the Ombú tree into a protective presence overlooking the hillside.

We then continue towards Trindade Parking, on Rua de Fernandes Tomás. Along the way, we can admire “Disconnected”, by Daniela Guerreiro, which questions digital dependency; “We Bloom as One”, by Tamara Alves, where body and nature merge; “Porto Noble and Loyal”, by Mr. Dheo, a tribute to his father; and “A Invicta”, by Hazul, characterised by geometry and symbolism. The interventions by Costah, with their vibrant colours and characters, complete this diverse collection.

We continue this wonderful and surprising journey to Silo Auto, on Rua Guedes de Azevedo, where architecture takes on a new dimension through the BALUARTE Festival. The space becomes a vertical urban art gallery, with artworks spread across its different levels, alongside exhibitions, workshops, live art and DJ sets. It is undoubtedly a place that deserves a longer visit on another occasion.

On Rua de Santos Pousada, we can admire the fantastic work “Azulejo”, by Third, a contemporary interpretation of Portuguese tradition, where elements such as camellias and cats take centre stage, creating an original dialogue between Portuguese visual culture and the language of contemporary urban art.

We continue our journey to the Joana Vasconcelos Tile Panel, at Praça Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, next to Praça Carlos Alberto. The artwork combines the tradition of Portuguese tilework with a pop and contemporary aesthetic, creating a vibrant composition that reimagines one of the most recognisable symbols of Portuguese culture.

We then make our way through the city to Rua de Rodolfo de Araújo, where we find the Bonfim Collective Mural. Bringing together different artists, techniques and visual languages, the mural is a dynamic work in constant transformation, reflecting the free and ephemeral nature of urban art.

Among the featured works are “Drop”, by MOTS, characterised by its organic shapes and the creation of a kind of “window into the bizarre”; the Japanese Hannya masks by DUB, exploring references to Japanese culture and iconography; and the cartoon-inspired characters by Fedor Rua, characterised by their expressive lines and illustration-like visual language.

The journey continues towards Vila Nova de Gaia, where the landscape overlooking the Douro River offers a moment to admire the two cities. Passing by The Yeatman, we continue along Rua Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, in Vila Nova de Gaia, where we discover a true collection of artistic expressions. A highlight is “Half Rabbit”, by Bordalo II, a monumental sculpture created from discarded materials, accompanied by “Halo”, by Cúmul, which uses tyres as artistic material.

On the Gaia side, we also find “O Gaiense 1000 Edições”, by Guel Do It, “Untitled”, by Third & Draw, “Gaia”, by Nuno Palhas, and “Pastel Cabine”, by Pastel.

And so our journey aboard the tuk tuk comes to an end, but the art remains — on the walls, in the colours, in the murals and in the stories the city holds. Porto and Gaia reveal themselves as living galleries, where every corner is a canvas and every artwork along this route changes the way we see the city.
